Starting with the subject of sports, we will be discussing the future of Los Angeles. Will the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games be an opportunity for Los Angeles to be a shining example of sustainable innovation and inclusivity? Who are the leaders in the Clean Tech space and what are the most promising green initiatives? How can everyday Angelos get involved in the effort to create a sense of pride and civic engagement?
Paul has been on the cutting edge of assistive technology for wheelchair users for over 20 years. After sustaining a spinal cord injury in 2003 he immediately sought the newest developments in mobility, and became an early adopter of the manual assist Iglide wheelchair from Johnson and Johnson. This revolutionary technology which is similar to what we see in electric bicycles allowed Paul to go farther faster and ultimately stay in his hillside home in Echo Park. Paul spent six years on his local neighborhood council as the chief information officer (CIO) and has been involved in many community building projects. Recently paul garnered local support around the effort to have 1553 Ewing St. designated an historic cultural monument (HCM) with the city of Los Angeles Department Historic Resources. The history of this house which was built by a Union Civil War general and it’s meaning in today’s political context will be explored in a future episodes. Paul has been actively promoting the city’s transition to electric Buses and sidewalk improvements in Echo Park on social media.
